Black Rice Vs. Cancer


Black rice could be the greatest ‘superfood’ according to a study at Louisiana State University.

According to the study, presented at the 240th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Boston, black rice is low in sugar but high in fibre and plant compounds that help combat heart disease and cancer, containing high levels of water-soluble anthocyanin antioxidants; studies suggest that anthocyanin antioxidants – as well as other dark plant antioxidants – ‘mop up’ harmful molecules, helping to protect the arteries and preventing the damage to DNA that can lead to cancer.
